David T. Rubin, MD, is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Co-Director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Center, and Program Director of the Fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition at the University of Chicago. He also is an associate faculty member at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics and an associate investigator at the University of Chicago Comprehensive Cancer Center.

After graduating with honors from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, Dr. Rubin started his career in medicine and is board certified in gastroenterology. A member of many professional organizations, including the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Gastroenterology Research Group, Dr. Rubin also is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. Chosen by his peers as a member of Best Doctors (recognized for superior clinical ability) and America's Top Physicians (gastroenterology), he received the American College of Gastroenterology's Governor's Award of Excellence in Clinical Research (2003), the Cancer Research Foundation Young Investigator's Award (2004), and the University of Chicago Postgraduate Teaching Award in recognition of significant contributions for fellowship education (2006).

Dr. Rubin is an author or coauthor of dozens of peer-reviewed articles, as well as many book chapters, abstracts, and presentations. From 1991 through the present, he has been the recipient of numerous grants and awards, and has been awarded a patent in a method of computer-aided detection of three-dimensional lesions. His principle research interests include colon cancer screening, prevention, and genetics; virtual colonoscopy; inflammatory bowel disease therapies and genetics; teaching medicine; humanism in medicine and medical education; and clinical medical ethics.

Russell D. Cohen, MD, FACG, AGAF is Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine/Section of Gastroenterology at the University of Chicago in Illinois. In addition, he is Co-Director of Clinical Inflammatory Bowel Disease at the University of Chicago.

Dr. Cohen earned his BS in biological sciences at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and his MD with honors at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston. His fellowship in gastroenterology and nutrition and his senior fellowship in inflammatory bowel diseases were conducted at the University of Chicago. Following his fellowships, Dr. Cohen was a Health Studies Scholar at the University of Chicago. Research interests of Dr. Cohen includes investigations of both standard and experimental pharmacological therapies, such as novel immunomodulatory agents, as well as studies analyzing quality of life and the economics involved in the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. He has been Principal Investigator and Co-investigator for more than 50 research projects in his field.

Dr. Cohen has authored or coauthored more than 100 articles, abstracts, reviews, books, book chapters, and audiotapes primarily devoted to Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. His articles on these and related topics are published in prestigious scientific journals such as Gastroenterology, American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Inflammatory Bowel Diseases. He also is a reviewer for multiple journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Gastroenterology, Gut, and American Journal of Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Gastroenterology, the American College of Physicians, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Chicago Society for Gastroenterology, the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America, the Gastroenterology Research Group, and the National Council Against Health Fraud. Dr. Cohen is the recipient of 11 honors and awards, including the Arthur Ross Award for Excellence in Medicine, and he is named in Best Doctors in America.
